Our group actively investigates the development and application of immunological methods for the determination of chemical compounds such as pesticides, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, pharmaceuticals, and mycotoxins. Applications range from human biomonitoring, screening of environmental samples (water, soil, air) and food samples to the preparation of new nanostructured materials for use in immunoaffinity chromatography.
Immunochemical techniques include the entire process of synthesis of reagents (hapten, immunogen, coating antigen, enzyme tracer), antibody production (pAb, mAb, rAb), assay development (direct or indirect format on microtiter plates and tubes, lateral flow devices) and validation (comparison with traditional reference methods).
Further projects deal with molecular imprinting, i.e. preparation of synthetic antibodies (MIPs), multi-analyte determination using antibody arrays, and synthesis of biofunctionalized nanoparticles as new molecular tags for assay labelling.
